Ryan Jack update is a 'big concern' for Rangers - McAvennie
Frank McAvennie insists Steven Gerrard will have concerns over Ryan Jack’s fitness after a Rangers injury update.
The Celtic icon, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, reacted to Gerrard’s latest comments on his midfielder’s fitness.
On Friday (24 September) Gerrard revealed Jack is due back on the training pitch “any day now” as he continues his recovery.
However the Gers boss expects the midfielder won’t join in ith group training for a few weeks.
Jack, 29, hasn’t played for Rangers this season after suffering an injury during the last week of the 2020-21 campaign.
The Gers do have plenty of midfield options, especially after signing John Lundstram and Juninho Bacuna this summer.

McAvennie insists Jack’s extended spell on the sidelines will still be concerning Gerrard ahead of his imminent return to training.
“It’s a big concern,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“It’s a big concern for Scotland as well. I genuinely think on his day he is the best player at Ibrox.
“Luckily, Rangers have plenty of options in midfield and they aren’t missing him too much.
“But he’s a quality player so you will always miss him at some level.
“Hopefully the return isn’t that far away because on his day he can really be a leader for that side.”
Jack has made 130 appearances for Rangers and played a pivotal role in last season’s title win.
He has been missing with a calf injury since mid-February as he picked up his knock in a Premiership clash against Dundee United.
