Ryan tipped to snub 'astonishing' offer to sign for Celtic - ex-manager
Ange Postecoglou could “sweet talk” Mat Ryan into joining Celtic over Arsenal, according to Alex McLeish.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Scotland boss suggested the lure of regular first-team football could also help the Bhoys’ cause.
As revealed by Football Insider on Tuesday (June 15th), Celtic are set to offer Ryan a long-term contract and the number one shirt to convince him of a move to Parkhead.
Arsenal had been in pole position to poach the goalkeeper from Brighton and held talks over a deal worth between £3-5million.
Football Insider has been told by a club source he has also discussed a contract offer from Arsenal.
McLeish admitted the Gunners had the advantage when it comes to finances.

However, he predicted a potential reunion with Postecoglou and regular game time could turn Ryan’s head.
Asked if Celtic could convince Ryan to sign over Arsenal, McLeish told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “It will be tough. He might crave first-team football more than money.
“Arsenal probably could give him more money. The goalies of the modern world are in a great position, especially the stand-in goalies.
“I’m not saying they’re in a great position in terms of getting game time because some of them don’t play for like five or six years. But they remain second in command and they’re earning astonishing money at a club like Arsenal.
“The thing in every footballer’s heart must be to play. You would think Ange Postecoglou would be a big pull for Mat Ryan. I’m sure he’s got his number and he’ll be sweet-talking him, trying to get him into Celtic.”
Ryan started 38 times for Australia during Postecoglou’s time as manager.
Brighton have given the green light for the shot-stopper as he enters the final year of his contract.
