Sam Allardyce had revealed that it is a possibility that Everton may make a move for Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the January transfer window.
The Mirror has reported that the Toffees are planning to table a club record bid worth £60million to sign Aubameyang, 28, when the transfer window re-opens next month in an effort to fill the goalless void left by Romelu Lukaku’s summer move to Manchester United.
Aubameyang is widely regarded as one of the best strikes in European football and has already smashed a stunning 19 goals in 20 games across all competitions this season.
However it is understood that he is thinking about leaving Dortmund in the near future and has his eyes on a move to the Premier League.
Everton boss Allardyce was asked about the reports about the Gabon international being linked to Goodison Park on Friday and offered a one-word response that will send fans of the Merseyside club into meltdown.
“Possibly”, he said, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo in their live blog on Friday [01:17PM], when approached by reporters.
Everton have struggled for goals after selling Lukaku in the summer and Aubameyang has been a lethal finisher at Dortmund, filling the void left by Robert Lewandowski at the Signal Iduna Park when he left for Bayern Munich.
The former Saint-Etienne striker is an amazing talent and would no doubt be an absolute coup for Everton, so fans will better hope that Allardyce can come up with the goods after his one-word response.
In other Everton news, the Toffees have made multiple approaches for this Premier League attacker on £140,000-a-week.
