Scott McTominay: Door opens for Newcastle United and West Ham to sign star after what he's just told Man United

Newcastle United and West Ham are monitoring the availability of Man United midfielder Scott McTominay this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

The 26-year-old Scotland international faces an uncertain future at Old Trafford, with Erik ten Hag wanting to bring in further midfielder reinforcements this summer.

Football Insider sources revealed on Friday (7 April) that McTominay is prepared to quit United this summer if pushed further down the pecking order.

The summer arrivals of Christian Eriksen and Casemiro has lowered McTominay‘s minutes considerably, and he worries that another midfield arrival could pose a serious threat to his career.

Marcel Sabitzer could be the latest midfielder to join United’s dressing room, with this site’s sources revealing that the 29-year-old is pushing to make his stay permanent at Old Trafford.

Newcastle and West Ham are both aware of McTominay’s position and are waiting to pounce in the summer if a cheap deal becomes available.

Ten Hag is a fan of McTominay’s abilities and views him as a valuable squad player, but accepts that McTominay could force his way out of the club if unhappy.

The United midfielder scored United’s opener in a 2-0 win over Everton on Saturday afternoon, taking his goal tally this season to three across all competitions.

McTominay has featured 35 times for the first team this season, but has mostly been limited to substitution cameos late on in matches.

He has spent over two decades at Old Trafford after joining the club’s academy during his childhood years and working his way through the youth setup to earn his first-team debut in 2017.
