Alan Hutton has claimed Celtic are "desperate" for new signings after Ange Postecoglou voiced his frustrations.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Scotland defender suggested the Bhoys need to prioritise the addition of attacking options ahead of the new Premiership season.

As quoted by the Daily Record (July 19th), Postecoglou admitted Celtic had "hesitated" in the transfer market and urged the board to "move quicker".

He insisted the squad is still "very light" in certain areas but admitted deals were taking longer to complete.

Celtic have made four signings so far, including wingers Liel Abada and Kyogo Furuhashi.

Youngsters Liam Shaw and Osaze Uroghide, both 20, have also joined from Sheffield Wednesday.

However, Hutton insisted more bodies are needed in the attacking departments.

When asked about Postecoglou’s transfer frustrations by Football’s Insider’s Russell Edge, Hutton said: "It’s difficult. You’ve got players you’re desperate to get out. You’re waiting for the right bids.

“Their forward areas are where I think they’re very light. They’re going to be counting on the likes of Forrest to come back in.

"After that, you think: ‘Where do you go?’ They need signings.

“I totally understand why the manager is saying: ‘We need to be quicker’. Waiting weeks and months is not helping anybody.

“The season’s around the corner and they need to get off to a fast start.

“Even how long it took to appoint the manager - that didn’t help. The chain reaction to that is where (Celtic) are now. They're desperate to get people in.”
