Arsenal legend Martin Keown has been drooling over Tottenham star Christian Eriksen after his inclusion in the PFA Premier League Team of the Season was announced on Wednesday.

The PFA confirmed on their official Twitter account that Eriksen, 26, would be in the team alongside team-mates Jan Vertonghen and Harry Kane after yet another strong performance by the North London club in England's top-flight.

Keown believes that it is a massive honour for Eriksen to be named in the midfield alongside Kevin De Bruyne and David Silva after their terrific performances at Manchester City.

"It is a serious compliment to Eriksen that his fellow professionals count him in the same bracket as the Manchester City pair," he said on the Daily Mail website.

"This season he has decided to stand up and be counted. He is much more precise with his passing and is trying to hurt his opponents.

"Eriksen has gone in with the attitude that Harry Kane and Dele Alli will not take all the plaudits - he will be Tottenham’s main man, too."

The

has reported that Eriksen is earning £75,000-a-week on his current deal at Tottenham, where he has made 42 appearances in all competitions this season, scored 14 goals and supplied 11 assists.

Football Insider verdict

People keep saying that Eriksen has gone under the radar at Spurs this season, but he really hasn't. The Denmark international is one of the best playmakers in European football and has amazing goal and assist stats for a midfielder. How is that going under the radar? People keep comparing him to Dele Alli and saying that the England international gets more attention, but that's only because Alli has had a poor season by his standards and has caused controversy by diving on the occasion. It's a myth that Eriksen is under-rated, everyone knows exactly how good he is.
