Sheffield United, Huddersfield, Crystal Palace are closely monitoring in-form Wolves loanee Dion Sanderson, Football Insider has learned.

The 21-year-old has been described by Sunderland manager Lee Johnson as an “absolute Rolls Royce” on the back of his displays on loan in recent months.

They have alerted plenty of leading clubs with Sanderson’s future up in the air going into the window.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Premier League bottom club Sheffield United have been joined by Crystal Palace and Championship outfit Huddersfield in the race for Sanderson.

He has said publicly he wants to make his mark at parent club Wolves.

Privately, he is open to a move if the Midlands giants decide to cash in on him this summer, as he wants to be playing regularly.

For now, Sanderson is putting all talk on his future on hold to focus on helping third-placed Sunderland achieve their promotion dream.

Football Insider revealed earlier this month that £2m may be enough to prise him from Molineux in the next window.

He has been highly thought of at the Midlands outfit for some time but has made only a single senior appearance, which came in 2019.

Sunderland’s only hope of being in the race to landing the defender permanently would be if they get promoted this season.

Sanderson has had to bide his time to establish himself during his loan spell at the Stadium of Light but has started the last nine league matches.

In other news, Wolves set sights on signing international star for far less than £62million release clause.
