Kenny: Berge will sparkle in new role for Sheffield United after update
Sander Berge has what it takes to shine in a more advanced role for Sheffield United.
So says Blades icon Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider after Slavisa Jokanovic’s side’s 2-2 draw with Preston on 14 September.
Berge was introduced off the bench with half an hour to play and bagged United’s second goal with five minutes remaining.
The 23-year-old, who is typically a central-midfield player, operated in a wide midfield role at the behest of Jokanovic on Tuesday evening.
The Serb admitted after the game that he had spoken with Berge about playing in a more advanced role, as quoted by Yorkshire Live.
And Kenny insists that his excellent work on the ball means he could sparkle behind the striker at Bramall Lane.

He told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams: “When he gets that ball and travels with it, he’s unbelievable.
“You can’t get anywhere near him, defenders bounce off him. He is a big strapping and I really like the way he runs with that ball.
“Every time he went forward, Sheffield United created a lot more chances.
“It would be nice to see him play a bit more advanced because he looks really good in those attacking positions.”
Berge was the subject of intense transfer speculation over the summer following the Blades’ relegation from the top-flight last term.
The 24-cap Norway international has featured six times so far this season.
