Kenny: 'Something isn't right' at Sheffield United as stars lambasted

Slavisa Jokanovic will deliver some “rollickings” at Sheffield United unless his players up their ideas.

That is the view of ex-Blades star Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the rapidly deteriorating situation at Bramall Lane.

United have won just one of their last five matches and, after relegation from the top-flight in 2020-21, sit in 18th place in the Championship.

They lost 3-1 to a Blackburn Rovers side on 6 November who in their previous match had been thumped 7-0 by Fulham.

As quoted by The Star after the defeat, Jokanovic admitted that it was time for his woefully underperforming players to “grow up”.

Only three teams in the division – Bristol City, Cardiff City and Peterborough United – have conceded more goals than his side this season.

Kenny echoed the sentiments of the gaffer and demanded that the Blades tighten up at the back.

“Honestly, he’s spot on,” he told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams.

“You can see something isn’t right there. He sees them day in day out, so I’m sure he’ll know the size of the task on his hand.

“But the number of goals they are conceding is frightening. It’s two or three every game at the moment. You can’t play like that.

“I’m sure he’ll be delivering some rollickings because I can’t imagine him sitting back and not saying anything.

“At some point, you have to start digging people out. People need to take responsibility somewhere.”

In other news, Kenny names three Sheffield United stars who “need to go” in January.
