Six Tottenham stars backed to exit after source's reveal - Robinson
Paul Robinson has backed Tottenham manager Antonio Conte’s decision not to include transfer listed players in his pre-season friendly squads.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former White Hart Lane number one said “common sense has prevailed” as injuries could “scupper” potential exits.
Joe Rodon, Tanguy Ndombele, Sergio Reguilon, Giovani Lo Celso and Harry Winks were omitted from the Spurs squad that lost 1-0 to AS Roma on Saturday (30 July).
Sources told Football Insider (30 July) that Rodon was having a medical at Rennes this weekend ahead of a loan move to the French club.
Japhet Tanganga is also close to leaving the club, with AC Milan his expected destination.
When asked by Football Insider if leaving for sale players out of the squad was the right approach, Robinson said: “It is a difficult one.

“Clubs know what is going on behind the scenes. They know which players are available and which players aren’t, regardless of whether they are in the squad.
“Negotiations will be ongoing for these players in the background. That is why they are being left out of the pre-season games. Their attention and focus will be elsewhere at the moment.
“There is no point having players in and around a dressing room when they are not going to feature. It is best for the manager to focus on the squad of players he wants so that there is not unrest in the dressing room.
“You also don’t want these players getting injured in pre-season because that would scupper potential moves. I think common sense has prevailed.
“The players know where they are at and they know where the land lies. They know the situation. Hopefully their futures will get resolved as soon as possible.”
