Everton have made an improved attempt to land Swansea playmaker Gyfli Sigurdsson, according to a report.
Sky Sports News claimed on their official Twitter account on Monday evening that the Toffees had tabled a stunning offer worth up to £45million for the 27-year-old, who has decided not to travel with the Swans on their pre-season tour of the USA.

This report comes after the Telegraph claimed Everton had opened the bidding with a £40million offer and were confident of getting the deal complete.
Ronald Koeman has been very busy this summer as he looks to take his Blues squad to the next level ahead of their upcoming Premier League and Europa League campaigns.
Now, it looks as though the Dutch manager is set on smashing the club’s record transfer buy for the second time in the space of a couple of months.
Jordan Pickford was the Toffees’ first signing of the summer in a deal that can potentially reach £30million in the future.
However if Swansea were to accept the £45million bid for Sigurdsson, that would destroy the current record.
Sigurdsson, who is known for his wizardry at set-pieces, was instrumental in keeping the Welsh club in the Premier League last season as he scored nine goals and 13 assists in 38 league appearances.
Football Insider Verdict
Everton look destined to splash all of their transfer budget this summer, but their pursuit of Sigurdsson has to mean that someone else might have to exit Goodison Park this summer. The most likely suggestion is Ross Barkley, who is now in the final year of his contract and could be forced to leave this summer. Koeman has to make sure he finds the right balance between refreshing his squad while keeping his existing players happy. The arrivals of Pickford, Davy Klaassen, Wayne Rooney and Michael Keane will force current Evertonians out of their comfort zone – and that could backfire massively during the season. However Koeman is a great man manager and there’s no doubt that he will work things out.
In other Everton news, the Blues have begun talks with the transfer of this 28-year-old.
