Sky Sports pundit and former England international Stuart Pearce has told how Leeds must do everything possible to keep hold of manager Garry Monk.
The 38-year-old senior man’s future has come into doubt with the Whites after failing to finish in the Championship’s top six after spending large parts of the season in the play-offs.
The Sun even claimed on Sunday that the summer appointment was set to be sacked, which has seen fans responds in anger to the latest story.
Now, former Manchester City boss Pearce would also appear to be on the side of the supporters and he has told how Monk has proved himself and the club must do all that they can to keep hold of him after a successful season despite the play-off heartache.
“When you say in doubt, from his point of view, or from….,” started Pearce speaking on Sky Sports News’ Premier League Daily show on Monday morning.

“I think he’s proved himself once again, as an outstanding young coach and manager, so if I was Leeds I would keep hold of him and I’d do everything I possibly could to keep hold of him.
“He’s liked by the supporters, the club whilst they’re disappointed they’ve dropped out of the play-offs, it’s been a good season for Leeds whichever way you look at it. They need to hang onto him.”
Monk’s contract at Leeds is currently set to expire in the summer with the former Swansea man agreeing a 12-month rolling contract when he signed in June.
It is believed there has not yet been talks to extend his deal beyond the summer, but the club’s fan base are in full agreement that they want him to remain as manager of the famous team.
