Former Leeds United star and current Sky Sports pundit David Prutton has said that the club will be feeling happy after their 2-2 draw against Bristol City ahead of the mid-week clash at Derby County.
The Whites head to Pride Park off the back of a dramatic stalemate against the Robins in Paul Heckingbottom’s first home game of his tenure at Elland Road, with his players battling from going 2-0 down in the opening 20 minutes to securing a point thanks to goals in the last 20 minutes.
The result, which leaves Leeds sitting in 11th position in the Championship table, extended their winless run to nine games across all competitions, having not tasted victory since their win over Burton Albion on Boxing Day.
However Prutton believes the players will be in a positive mood despite their unwanted streak as a result of their point against Bristol City, but says he cannot see them getting a win against Derby on Wednesday.
Predicting a 2-2 draw between the two sides, he wrote on Sky Sports’ website: “Leeds will be feeling good after that late comeback against Bristol City.
“Draws aren’t good enough for them if they’re going to get anywhere near the top six again. Both teams have to go for this one, and I’m backing an entertaining draw.
“Derby’s recent form might be starting to concern Gary Rowett. A few weeks ago they looked hot favourites to finish second behind Wolves, but only one win in five has allowed Cardiff and Aston Villa to climb back above them.”
The Rams come into the clash off the back of a disappointing 2-0 defeat at the hands of Sheffield Wednesday, and have tasted victory just once in their last five outings, leaving them fourth in the table.
