Sky Sports pundit: Tottenham won't be able to stop this player from leaving the club

By Harvey Byrne

Former Rangers manager and Sky Sports pundit Alex McLeish believes there’s “no stopping” Dele Alli from leaving Tottenham if a big club comes in with a huge sum of money.

The 21-year-old attacking midfielder has emerged as one of the Premier League’s best players after breaking into the Spurs first team at the beginning of the last campaign.

He has also been awarded with a contract until 2022 with the club looking to keep hold of one of their main assets.

However, McLeish believes that the north London side will be powerless to keep Alli if one of Europe’s super clubs come in for him.

“Dele Alli has just been a sensation,” told McLeish to Sky Sports News’ Premier League Daily show on Wednesday morning.

“Every person I meet starts talking about the Premier League. Dele Alli’s the guy on everybody’s lips.

“For me he’s be absolutely outstanding this season and he’s also 21 years of age. (Eric) Dier 23, if they can keep a hold of them surely they have to challenge for the Premier League title. That’s got to be a reason to keep Alli.

“But, at the same time there’s huge clubs out there, the predators and if they come with the money then there’s probably no stopping him from leaving.”

Tottenham have previously lost world-class duo Luka Modric and Gareth Bale to Real Madrid at their peak years and the Spanish club have also been linked to Alli on occasion.

There is growing concerns from the Spurs fan base regarding the future of their star player, but Mauricio Pochettino has looked to ease these worries by telling how Daniel Levy has assured him that the club will only sell the players that they want to.

However, there will still remain an uncertainty until it is revealed that both Alli and the club have rejected a move to one of the bigger clubs.

In other Tottenham news, former duo Giovani dos Santos and Clint Dempsey are among the top 10 earners in the United States.
