West Ham's Bilic makes sly dig as he heaps praise on Tottenham's Kane
By Russell Edge
West Ham boss Slaven Bilic has been singing the praises of Tottenham’s Harry Kane after the striker’s double helped see off the Serbian’s side on Saturday.
The English forward hit two first half goals, including a perfectly timed diving header, before Christian Eriksen’s second half striker saw Spurs take a 3-0 lead at the London Stadium.
However goals from Javier Hernandez and Cheikhou Kouyate and a red card for Serge Aurier meant it was a nervy end to the London derby for Spurs, although they held on for a 3-2 victory.
After the game, Bilic took the time out to highlight the impressive performance of Kane, insisting that he is among the ten top strikers in the world.
However, his praise came with a humorous sly dig at the striker’s form during the opening month of the season.

He told the London Evening Standard: ““The best compliment I can give him is that – put it like this – we play with three centre-backs and I really think that Fonte, Reid and Angelo Ogbonna had a really good game.
“Yeah [he is one of best in the world], I don’t know, if there are two of them [top strikers] he probably isn’t.
“But if there are five or ten he is definitely there, because he is doing that week in, week out now, apart from August.”
Bilic’s mention of August comes after Kane failed to find the net last month, which makes it three consecutive years that he has failed to score during the month.
However he has found his scoring boots once again and has four Premier League goals to his name this season, with a further two in the Champions League.
Spurs’ next match sees them travel to Cyprus to take on Apoel Nicosia on Tuesday.
