Smith will be 'fuming' after 'daft' Aston Villa development - McAvennie
Frank McAvennie insists Dean Smith will be fuming after Aston Villa pair Emi Martinez and Emi Buendia were ruled out of the club’s clash against Chelsea.
The former Villain’s striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, reacted to the latest on the Argentine duo.
Martinez and Buendia were two of four Argentina players to be accosted by Brazilian health authorities last week.
The pair are accused of not following the country’s COVID protocols while on international duty.
Express and Star (7 September) report both players will fly to Croatia before heading to the UK to avoid quarantining for an extended period.
However, this means both players will miss their club’s game against Chelsea on Saturday evening.

McAvennie insists smith will not be happy with last week’s developments.
“I can’t imagine Dean Smith is happy,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“He’ll be fuming I imagine. To lose two key players like that is not on, frankly.
“I get that players want to play for their country but there are rules. Especially at the moment, to ignore those rules is daft.
“Martinez is a key player for them. Smith has his senses about him and he’s a fair man.
“I imagine there will be a punishment because he will not be happy with those players.”
It remains to be seen if or how Villa may choose to punish their players.
Martinez and Buendia have both started every Premier League game this season with the club 11th in the Premier League.
