'Something about them' - Exclusive: Whelan warns West Brom of banana skin v Millwall
Noel Whelan has warned West Brom that they must remain defensively resolute of face defeat in their clash agianst Millwall on Sunday.
The former Leeds striker and Championship expert, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, says that the Lions pose a serious threat from both open play and set-pieces.
Gary Rowett’s side almost produced an upset on their visit to West Brom’s title rivals, going into half-time 2-0 up at Elland Road before succumbing to a 3-2 defeat.
Having seen the damage that the ninth-placed side can do to a high-flying Leeds side, Whelan says that the Baggies’ defenders will have to be on top of their game to get anything at the Den.
Asked if Sunday’s showdown could be a banana skin for Bilic’s men, Whelan told Football Insider: “Yeah, I think so. Millwall are a very well-organised team, they’re very good going forward, they’ve got something about them
“Gary Rowett’s taken them to the next level, I think he’s done fantastically well at the football club. Very dangerous from set-pieces but some delightful football as well. It’s a difficult game.

“You’re going to get that passion from the fans, you’ve got to manage the emotions and the crowd because you know what you’re going to get. Out of play they’re just as good, set pieces they’re aggressive. If you don’t defend properly against Millwall, you’ll get punished.”
Rowett’s men have not won in their last three games across all competitions, having gone on an unbeaten run of six games.
West Brom meanwhile will be hoping they have turned their poor form around, the win over Luton just their second victory in nine Championship games.
In other West Brom news, Whelan has suggested that one senior star is taking a risk at the Hawthorns.
