Sources: Ajeti to be frozen-out by Celtic after major development
Albian Ajeti is set to be frozen-out at Celtic following the deadline-day signing of Giorgos Giakoumakis, Football Insider understands.
The return of domestic football following the international break will see the new Hoops striker pecking order firmly established by Ange Postecoglou.
A whirlwind of end-of-window activity saw Odsonne Edouard and Leigh Griffiths head out of Parkhead, with Giakoumakis arriving in a £2.5million deal from VVV-Venlo to add further firepower.
A Celtic source has told Football Insider that Postecoglou will immediately downgrade Ajeti’s status to create space for the new boy.
Kyogo Furuhashi has emerged as the main man in recent weeks and quickly established himself as a fans’ favourite, with Giakoumakis providing proven back-up.
Ajeti could struggle to even make the substitute’s bench as the impact of the club’s 12 summer signings takes full hold.

The Hoops had been willing to listen to offers for the 11-times Switzerland international during the summer, including permanent and loan deals.
Discussions were held over potential loan moves to a number of European clubs but none could be agreed.
It means Ajeti is set to stay on until January at least unless a last-gasp deal can be agreed to a team in one of the few leagues whose windows are still open.
The striker was recruited from West Ham in the summer of 2020 for an initial £4.5m rising to a potential £6m with add-ons.
He has responded with just six goals from 36 Celtic matches, with his five appearances this terms not yielding a goal from just 51 minutes of combined action.
