Arsenal believe Martin Odegaard can be even more effective in the future in a right-sided attacking role.

The on-loan Norwegian has been a big hit since joining from Real Madrid, operating almost exclusively in a central playmaking role.

An Arsenal source has told Football Insider that Mikel Arteta and the club’s coaching staff see him in the long term dictating the play from the right flank.

It is said that he can be “phenomenal” cutting in from the right flank on his left foot and into the number 10 role.

He can take the ball, run at opponents and use his vision and technical ability to open open defences and create goals.

Arsenal are likely to stick with Odegaard in a central role for tonight’s Premier League clash against Liverpool.

Arteta has preferred to use the likes of Bukayo Sako, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Willian and Nicolas Pepe in the wide attacking roles.

But that could change next season if Arsenal succeed in converting Odegaard’s loan into a permanent deal.

Football Insider revealed earlier that the Norway international’s price tag could soar if he ends the season in top form.

Real regard the London giants as an ideal shop window for the attacking midfielder ahead of the summer window.

Football Insider revealed on 27th March that Real manager Zinedine Zidane “doesn’t like or want” Odegaard and will happily sanction his departure.

Odegaard had been a bit-part player at Real in the first half of the campaign and made just three league starts.

At Arsenal, he has started five of the last six league matches and has two goals from his 12 appearances for the club.
