Arsenal have given the green light for sensation Charlie Patino to undergo a Blackpool medical on Wednesday (3 August), sources have told Football Insider.

The Premier League giants have agreed a loan deal for the 18-year-old with the Championship club.

Patino is now headed to Blackpool to complete a medical and the formalities of the transfer.

He is regarded by Arsenal as a future first-team star and has already made his senior debut, which came last December.

Patino signed professional terms at the Emirates in October 2020 before making his debut just over a year later.

The England Under-19 international scored in the 5-1 win over Sunderland in the EFL Cup and then made his second senior appearance against Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup in January.

His performances for Arsenal's age group sides earned praise from Rio Ferdinand at the beginning of the year.

The England legend told BT Sport (1 January) that Patino's talent is a "joke" and he can follow Emile Smith Rowe and Buakyo Saka and become a regular in the Gunners first team.

He is now set to gain his first taste of regular senior football at Blackpool.

The Tangerines finished 16th in the Championship in 2021-22 but Michael Appleton has replaced Neil Critchley as manager after he left to join Steven Gerrard's coaching staff at Aston Villa.

They have focused on recruiting young players from the Premier League as Patino is set to become their fourth loan singing of the summer.

Lewis Fiorini has signed from Man City, Rhys Williams from Liverpool and Theo Corbeanu has arrived from Wolves.
