Sources: Aston Villa in pole position to beat Arsenal to big-money Bailey signing after talks
Aston Villa are in pole position to beat Arsenal to the signing of Leon Bailey, Football Insider understands.
Both clubs have made contact with Bayer Leverkusen over a deal for the winger, 23, this summer.
A Villa source has told Football Insider that Villa are in the driving seat to land the Jamaica international on a permanent deal.
Talks are being held with Leverkusen as the Midland giants work on their latest big-money transfer.
Arsenal could now pull out of the race and leave Villa well placed to add Bailey to their previous summer captures of Emiliano Buendia and Ashley Young.
As revealed by Football Insider back in April, Villa were in the market for at least two new wide forwards this summer.

They struck early to snap up Buendia from Norwich in a deal worth £57million in transfer fee, add-ons and wages.
Despite the hefty outlay on the 24-year-old, owners Wes Edens and Nassef Sawiris are willing to continue bankrolling a summer of spending at Villa Park.
The Villans have turned their attentions to Bailey after his impressive performances in the Bundesliga.
He contributed nine goals and nine assists in 30 league appearances for Leverkusen last season.
The Jamaica international also scored five times in eight Europa League outings.
He still has two years left on his contract at Leverkusen.
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is also keen on adding Bailey to his squad ahead of the new campaign.
However, it remains to be seen whether the Gunners are willing to rival the spending power of Villa.
