Sources: Aston Villa set El Ghazi asking price as bid lined up from Premier League legend

Aston Villa are willing to let Anwar El Ghazi go if their £15million asking price is met, Football Insider understands.

The Midlands giants are braced for an offer from Roma for the Dutch winger, 26, as they prepare to create space for a number of attacking signings.

A Villa source has told Football Insider that the club are expected to cash in if the Serie A club follow up their interest with a £15m offer.

Roma could look to start the bidding at around the £12m mark as they test the water for a player new manager Jose Mourinho admires.

The legendary Premier League boss has turned his attention to El Ghazi amid growing signs Villa will sell.

Football Insider revealed last Sunday that Villa manager Dean Smith is willing to listen to offers for the wide man despite his strong finish to last season.

El Ghazi netted four times in the last seven Premier League matches to end the campaign with an impressive 11 goals from 31 games in all competitions.

But Smith believes the attacker has reached his ceiling and will reach a higher level in terms of his personal performance.

That has opened the door for Roma to make a move for a player who moved to Villa Park from Lille, initially on loan, in the summer of 2018.

El Ghazi is perhaps not coincidentally also a client of Mourinho’s agent Jorge Mendes.

Villa have attacking reinforcements lined up, and are now in advanced talks to sign Norwich City’s Todd Cantwell.

The big spenders are also leading the charge for Leon Bailey and Football Insider revealed last Friday (23rd July) they have had a bid of around £30million knocked back by Bayer Leverkusen.
