Aston Villa could land top target Morgan Rogers for a fee of between £10-12million this month, sources have told Football Insider.

The Midlands giants have already seen two offers for Rogers rejected by Boro, who are reluctant to lose him mid-season and will drive a hard bargain.

It is believed Man City are owed a big sell-on clause if any sale is finalised - and that has entered the thinking for Middlesbrough as they hold out for an eight-figure fee.

Boro want Rogers available for their League Cup semi-final second-leg clash against Chelsea on Tuesday (23 January) - and Villa are set to step up the negotiation process after that game.

A well-placed source has told Football Insider that the attacker will likely be Villa's final January signing unless there are significant outgoings in the window's final days.

Scouts from Unai Emery’s side attended to watch Rogers in Middlesbrough’s 1-1 draw against Rotherham on Saturday (20 January).

He has managed six goals and nine assists in 32 games across all competitions in the 2023-24 campaign.

Villa have already secured the signing of Red Star Belgrade star Kosta Nedeljkovic this month - with the 18-year-old set to be loaned back to Serbia for the remainder of this season.

Unai Emery's side sit fourth in the Premier League table - just five points adrift of leaders Liverpool.
