Atletico Madrid are preparing a pre-contract offer for Leicester City star Caglar Soyuncu in January, sources have told Football Insider.

The defender, 26, is entering the final six months of his contract and is free to talk to foreign clubs when the transfer window opens in January.

Soyuncu has found himself out of favour at the King Power Stadium this season and it seems certain he will leave the club.

Atletico Madrid have been tracking the Turkey international for some time and are confident are finalising a deal for the central defender in January.

It would see the centre-back move to Spain on a free transfer next summer.

The Turkey international has made just one Premier League outing so far this season - a 72-minute showing against Man City in October.

He also played 90 minutes as the Foxes overcame Stockport County on penalties in the second round of the League Cup in August.

Soyuncu wasn't included in the travelling party for Leicester's mid-season Abu Dhabi training camp due to an injury which kept him out of the last two matchday squads.

He joined Leicester from Freiburg in 2018 for a reported £19million and earned immediate acclaim for his dominant defensive performances.

He remained first choice until the end of last season but has been ousted from the starting lineup by Brendan Rodgers after the summer signing of Wout Faes.

Another Foxes centre-back who will be allowed to leave the club in the coming windows is Jannik Vestergaard.
