Sources: Atletico Madrid respond after Man United submit formal Trippier bid
Atletico Madrid have rejected an opening bid from Man United for Kieran Trippier, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.
The Premier League giants have made a formal move for the England star after making him a priority target this summer.
But a United source has told Football Insider that the offer of around £10million has been knocked back for Trippier and they will need to increase it to seal a deal.
The right-back, who turns 31 in September, is currently with the England squad preparing for their Euros opener against Croatia on Sunday.
His future at Atletico is in major doubt even though he was an instrumental player in their sensational La Liga-winning campaign.
Trippier is keen on returning to England this summer after two years in Madrid.

He has two more years remaining on his Atletico contract and has a fine reputation in both Spain as well as his homeland.
Trippier was signed by Diego Simeone’s side from Tottenham in the summer of 2019 for a fee of around £22m.
He subsequently hit out at at Mauricio Pochettino and Daniel Levy over the manner of his exit, saying they failed to disclose their plans to sell him.
Trippier has proved to be a shrewd signing for Atletico and has 68 appearances for the club across two seasons.
The former Burnley star also has extensive Premier League experience as well as 28 England caps.
In other news, Man United are willing to listen to offers for “big time Charlie” who ended last few months of the season as a key starter in the team.
