Birmingham City, Reading and Kaiserslautern are chasing ex-Huddersfield Town defender Naby Sarr, Football Insider understands.

The centre-back, 28, is a free agent after leaving Huddersfield earlier this summer upon the expiration of his contract following two seasons at the club.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Championship duo Birmingham and Reading as well as German outfit Kaiserslautern have registered their interest in signing Sarr.

The defender's final appearance for the Terriers came in the 2021-22 Championship play-off final.

He played 57 minutes as his former side lost 1-0 to Nottingham Forest.

The defender struggled to put a run of successive starts together throughout the Championship season.

Sarr made 21 appearances in the competition but only started 14 of those games.

He was much more present in the previous season, making 41 appearances in all competitions.

Sarr began his career at Lyon but only managed to make five appearances for their senior side before signing for Sporting Lisbon in 2014.

He only made 18 appearances for the Portuguese side before moving to Charlton and racking up 116 appearances.

The defender spent five years at The Valley but the 2016-17 season was spent on loan at Ligue 2 side Red Star FC, where he made 24 appearances.

At international level, Sarr has played for various France youth sides but has never been called up to the senior squad.

He was called up to the senior Senegal national team in 2019 but did not make an appearance for the country.,
