Blackpool are lining up a late move for Bournemouth midfielder Gavin Kilkenny, Football Insider understands.

The Seasiders are in the market for midfield reinforcements before Monday's transfer deadline and have turned their attention to the 21-year-old.

Kilkenny is on their list of targets.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Blackpool have made an enquiry to take Kilkenny on loan and are waiting to see if Bournemouth are willing to let their player go.

His contract at the Vitality Stadium runs until the summer of 2025.

Kilkenny was an unused substitute for Scott Parker's side in Saturday's 1-0 win at Barnsley.

He has made 16 appearances across all competitions for the Cherries this season.

However, he has not featured in the league since mid-December - a 1-0 defeat at Middlesbrough.

Kilkenny made his debut for Bournemouth on 28 August 2019 in an EFL Cup tie against Forest Green Rovers.

He has made 22 appearances for the Championship high-flyers since.

Parker and his staff have high hopes for Kilkenny.

Speaking after a win at Bristol City in October, Parker said: "I thought he [Kilkenny] was different class.

"I trust Gavin. He understands where the ball needs to go."

Kilkenny is currently an Ireland Under-21 international.

He has made 12 appearances for his country at that level.

Blackpool boss Neil Critchley is keen to bolster his squad before the window closes on Monday.

Critchley's side are unbeaten in their last three Championship fixtures following a 1-1 draw at Fulham on Saturday.

They are 14th in the table.
