Burnley are in advanced talks to sign Coventry attacker Callum O'Hare, sources have told Football Insider.

The Championship new boys have had a couple of bids rejected for the 24-year-old this summer but remain in talks over a potential deal and are confident of finally landing one of their top targets.

New Burnley boss Vincent Kompany has targeted O'Hare as he looks to add some creativity to his midfield ahead of the new season.

The former Aston Villa youngster had an outstanding campaign for Coventry last season with five goals and eight assists.

He has two years left to run on his contract with the Sky Blues after signing a new deal earlier this year (7 January).

Football Insider reported earlier this year (18 April) that Coventry had placed a £5million price tag on O'Hare who is also admired by Norwich City.

Burnley have been one of the most active Championship clubs in the transfer market this summer as they look to bounce straight back to the Premier League under Kompany.

O'Hare's former teammate at the Coventry Building Society Arena Ian Maatsen became their seventh signing of the window last week (15 July) when he joined on loan from Chelsea.

They have also signed Scott Twine, Luke McNally, CJ Egan-Riley, Samuel Bastien and Josh Cullen while Taylor Harwood-Bellis has joined on loan.

O'Hare will be able to offer creativity as he has 35 goal contributions in 135 games across all competitions for Coventry.
