Burnley are readying a £9million bid for Stoke City centre-back Nathan Collins, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.
The Premier League club have reignited their pursuit of the 19-year-old ahead of the summer window after failing with a £7.5million offer in January.
A recruitment source has told Football Insider that the Clarets are willing to up their offer to £9million to try and secure the defender’s services.
Collins, who turns 20 on Friday, already has 47 appearances to his name for Stoke, with 27 of those coming in the 2020-21 campaign.
However, he has not featured since mid-February after he fractured the bottom of his foot in a game against Norwich City.
Signed from Irish side Cherry Orchard in 2016, the centre-half made his professional debut for the Potters at Swansea in April 2019.
Shortly after he was rewarded with a new long-term deal which is due to run until the summer of 2024.
He has been capped twice by the Republic of Ireland at Under-21 level but is yet to receive a call-up to the senior squad.
Sean Dyche may view Collins as a replacement for James Tarkowski.
Tarkowski has spoke openly about his desire to leave Turf Moor within the past 12 months, with the club’s contract offer “nowhere near” enough to convince him to stay.
The England international will enter the final year of his contract with Burnley this June and club chiefs may look to cash in, rather than risk losing him on a free in the summer of 2022.
