Six more Celtic stars could depart the club before the end of the January transfer window in a late-window exodus, sources have told Football Insider.

It is believed that the Hoops are open to offers for the permanent sales of Gustaf Lagerbielke, Alexandro Bernabei, James McCarthy and Rocco Vata.

Defender Yuki Kobayashi and forward Marco Tilio could also leave the club on loan for the remainder of the season.

The club are especially keen to get McCarthy off their books as his contract is costing them nearly £30,000-a-week.

The former Everton and Crystal Palace midfielder's time at Celtic has been blighted by injury and he has not made a senior appearance for the club since October 2022.

These six players could all follow the four senior stars who have already departed Parkhead this month.

Nat Phillips had his season-long loan deal from Liverpool cut short, while Yosuke Ideguchi has left the club permanently to join J1 League side Vissel Kobe.

Left-back Adam Montgomery, 21, was recalled from his loan spell at League One side Fleetwood Town but was immediately sent back out to Motherwell for the remainder of the season.

Midfielder Hyeok-kyu Kwon has also departed on loan to St Mirren.

Celtic remain at the top of the league and eight points clear of second-place Rangers.

They are next in action in the Scottish Cup against Buckie Thistle on Sunday (21 January).
