Sources: Championship club submit 6-figure bid for Crewe Alexandra star Dale
A Championship club have submitted a £500,000 bid for Crewe Alexandra star Owen Dale, Football Insider has learned.
The unnamed second-tier outfit have made a formal move for the forward, 22, ahead of the window shutting this month.
A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Dale is keen to test himself at Championship level and is hopeful Crewe will not stand in his way of a move.
He has one year left on his contract and they risk losing him for a compensation fee next summer if the offer is rejected.
Football Insider revealed in April that Sunderland, Blackburn, Preston and Ipswich were all targeting a move for the forward.
The Crewe academy product enjoyed a breakout season last term.

He returned to Crewe and cemented his place in the side which won promotion to the third tier in 2020.
He scooped four awards at Crewe’s end of season presentation, including Player of the Season.
The 22-year-old now looks set to follow in the footsteps of other famous academy products from the club.
