Sources: Charlton Athletic and Burton Albion in race to sign Oxford star Alex Gorrin
Charlton and Burton Albion are in the hunt to sign Oxford United midfielder Alex Gorrin on a free transfer, Football Insider understands.
The Spaniard, who is currently recovering from an anterior cruciate ligament injury he sustained in November, is out of contract next month.
A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Gorrin, 28, is weighing up a contract offer from the club before deciding where his future lies.
As per the Oxford Mail (1 May), U’s boss Karl Robinson confirmed the Spaniard has been offered a new deal.
A number of clubs, including Charlton and Burton, are keeping tabs on his situation.
The League One pair are ready to move for him if he becomes a free agent.

Gorrin had made 17 appearances in all competitions prior to tearing his ACL against Bristol Rovers last year.
However, the Tenerife-born midfielder returned to the training pitches in mid-March as he steps up his recovery ahead of a potential summer move.
Gorrin has made 101 total appearances for Oxford since joining from Motherwell in 2019.
The 28-year-old started his career at Sunderland but has also turned out in Australia, Scotland, Portugal, and Romania.
Gorrin is one of nine Oxford stars out of contract next month.
The U’s finished eighth in League One after falling out of playoff contention during the last weeks of the season.
Burton and Charlton will also be playing third-tier football again next season after finishing 16th and 13th respectively.
