Crystal Palace are in advanced talks with Chelsea over the signing of defender Lewis Hall, sources have told Football Insider.

Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino has given the green light to the 18-year-old joining the south Londoners on a season-long loan.

Chelsea do not want to sell Hall permanently and believe his development would be best served by regular Premier League football this season.

Talks are progressing well with Palace and there is a growing expectation a deal can be done within the next days.

The 18-year-old put pen to paper on a contract extension this summer after working his way through the youth academy.

The versatile youngster made his debut for the Blues in January last year, playing the full 90 minutes in a 5-1 FA Cup win over Chesterfield.

Predominantly deployed at left-back, Hall went on to make 11 appearances for Chelsea in the 2022-23 season for a total of 823 minutes of game time.

Hall is one of a number of stellar academy products produced by the Londoners in recent years with the club having backed over £200million from the sale of homegrown players since 2015.

The defender, who can also be deployed in midfield, has represented England at various youth levels from under-15 through to under-19.
