Chelsea star Trevoh Chalobah is undergoing a medical at Bayern Munich on Tuesday (29 August), sources have told Football Insider.

The Bundesliga giants have agreed a deal with the Blues and are poised to sign Chalobah on an initial loan with an option to buy.

The 24-year-old had been admired by clubs in England and across Europe throughout the summer transfer window with Chelsea open to letting him depart.

Premier League clubs like West Ham, Everton and Nottingham Forest had been interested in his services - but it is Bayern who now look set to win the race for his signature.

The defender is poised to reunite with Thomas Tuchel, who he played 31 times under during their overlapping time at Stamford Bridge.

Bayern are set to run the rule over the defender's fitness when he undergoes medical tests ahead of putting pen to paper.

Chalobah is currently sidelined with a hamstring issue after reportedly aggravating a previous injury in training earlier this month.

As such, he is yet to play for Chelsea in the 2023-24 campaign.

Chalobah's contract at Stamford Bridge is set to expire in June 2028 after he signed a huge extension in November 2022.

The Blues academy product played 34 times across all competitions for Chelsea last term, starting in 26 of those outings.

He has proved a versatile option since emerging from the youth ranks, and can play at centre-back, right-back and in midfield.

Chalobah's potential arrival could allow Man United target Benjamin Pavard to exit the club - but he is expected to join Inter Milan.

Chelsea are currently short of centre-back options, with Benoit Badiashile and Wesley Fofana both sidelined through iniury.
