Derby County are demanding £2million for left-back Max Lowe after rejecting a £1.5million bid from Championship rivals Brentford, Football Insider understands.

Brentford boss Thomas Franks is determined to bring in a new left-back before Thursday’s transfer deadline and has made Lowe his top target.

However, a Derby source has told Football Insider that the club have rejected Brentford’s bid for Lowe and will only consider selling him if their £2million valuation is met.

Brentford are now considering looking at other targets after Derby’s refusal to accept their offer.

Lowe is back at Derby this summer after two spells out on loan at Scottish Premiership side Aberdeen last season.

The 22-year-old impressed at Aberdeen, making 42 appearances in all competitions for the Dons and his performances brought him to the attention of a number of clubs.

Lowe has made 17 appearances for the Derby first-team and has featured for England's Under-20s.
