Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin favours a move to Arsenal over Newcastle United this summer, Football Insider understands.

Arsenal and Newcastle are both interested in signing the 25-year-old as they look to recruit a top-class number nine in the upcoming window.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Calvert-Lewin is likely to leave Everton this summer whether they stay up or not.

He's told friends his preferred destination is Arsenal, who are battling for a top-four finish and a place in next season’s Champions League.

As revealed by Football Insider last month (30 March), Arsenal are in the market for a proven, powerful centre-forward under the age of 25.

Calvert-Lewin has been hailed "amazing" by teammate Salomon Rondon.

However, he has struggled to get going in what has been an injury-plagued campaign.

The England international, who is currently sidelined, has not scored in his last 11 appearances for Frank Lampard's side.

His contract at Goodison Park runs until the end of June 2025.

The Gunners are in the market for at least one striker this summer.

Mikel Arteta only has Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah as centre-forwards options currently.

Both players are out of contract at the end of the season.

Arsenal

Arsenal missed out on their top striker target Dusan Vlahovic in January.

The Serbia international joined Juventus instead.
