Sources: Ex-Leeds star White tells friends he expects to sign for Arsenal
Ben White has told his Leeds United friends he expects to quit Brighton for Arsenal this summer, Football Insider understands.
The London giants have submitted a formal bid for the defender, 23, that Sky Sports report is worth £40million.
A recruitment source has told Football Insider that White has let it be known to friends, including those at Leeds and in the England squad, that he is likely to end up at Arsenal before the current window shuts.
He has already begun house hunting in the capital in the expectation that the move will go through.
Arsenal are expected to return to the negotiating table with an improved offer for White as talks continue.
It has been suggested that Brighton want £50m for the centre-back, who has also attracted interest from the likes of Liverpool, Man United and Tottenham.

As revealed by Football Insider last week, Leeds are not expected to join the race for their former loan star.
White took his game to a new level in 2019-20 during a season at Elland Road and United subsequently submitted three bids worth up to £30m.
But Brighton held firm and the versatile defender, who can play at centre-back, right-back as well as in central midfield, ended up signing a new four-year contract.
With a full season in the Premier League under his belt, Arsenal have now made a move to shore up their defence.
That is a priority for the Londoners this summer and they are also in the market for a new goalkeeper.
