Sources: Harry Kane helps Tottenham board decide next manager

One intriguing sub-plot to the search is what impact it could have over the future of the club’s star player Kane, who will soon ever the final year of his contract at Tottenham.

It is believed that the 29-year-old will be in contact with the Spurs board over the new manager appointment, and will have a say on the identity of Conte’s long-term replacement as part of his contract talks.

The 35-year-old German was sacked by Bayern Munich on Friday afternoon despite losing only three matches in all competitions this season.

The Spurs board and Kane are huge admirers of Nagelsmann ahead of what is a critical period in the club’s process to replace Conte.

Tottenham are considering a number of options, including appointing Ryan Mason as caretaker manager until the end of the season and then hiring a full-time boss in the summer.

Kane recently became the record scorer for England with 54 goals, scoring his latest in a 2-1 win over Italy to overtake Wayne Rooney’s tally.

Kane graduated from the Tottenham academy and has stayed with the club throughout the entirety of his senior career, making 425 appearances and scoring 271 goals for the club.
