Liverpool are likely to be in the mix for Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe if he becomes available next summer, sources have told Football Insider.

The Reds will be just one of several Premier League clubs ready to sound out a move for the 24-year-old with recent reports from Spain suggesting Real Madrid have cooled their interest in the World Cup winner.

Liverpool

Liverpool are long-term admirers and are likely to monitor his situation between now and the end of his contract in June 2024.

However, a well-placed source has told Football Insider it is "doubtful" that the Merseysiders could afford what would be a sensational deal.

Sources say Mbappe will command "huge wages" and an astronomical financial package if he leaves PSG for free next year.

He currently earns a reported £1.2million-a-week wage at Parc des Princes and has the option to extend that deal a further 12 months.

The France international has managed 12 goals and one assist across 14 total appearances in the 2023-24 campaign.

Liverpool

Mbappe revealed last year (2022) that he spoke to Liverpool about a potential move – before choosing to pledge his future to PSG.

The forward has notched 224 goals and 99 assists in 274 games since joining the Ligue 1 champions for a reported £166million in 2017.
