Leeds United and Wolves are locked in a late-window battle for QPR defender Rob Dickie, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.

The centre-back, 25, is on the radar of leading Premier League clubs after an impressive year in the Championship.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Leeds and Wolves are closely monitoring Dickie’s situation in the final fortnight of the window.

They are weighing up moves, as are Newcastle United, whose interest was revealed by this site in May.

Dickie joined QPR from Oxford United last summer and has a contract running until 2024.

It is understood QPR are reluctant to lose Dickie after just one season, but they are bracing themselves for late interest.

The accomplished defender, who came through Reading's youth system, has excelled since making the step up to the Championship with QPR.

The former England Under-19 international was rewarded for his fine form by sweeping the boards at the club’s end-of-season awards with three prizes.

Dickie has a contract with Queens Park Rangers that runs until the summer of 2024.

Leeds never had a settled centre back partnership last season due to injury.

Summer signing Diego Llorente only made 15 Premier League appearances.

Liam Cooper and Pascal Struijk were selected to start the Whites' opening game of this season as they were beaten 5-1 by Manchester United.

Wolves also lost on the first day of the season as a Jamie Vardy goal condemned them to a 1-0 defeat to Leicester.
