Sources: Leeds confident of two new signings in coming days after offer accepted

Leeds United are confident of adding defender Josko Gvardiol to the imminent signing of forward Crysencio Summerville in the coming days, Football Insider understands.

Winger Summerville, 18, is putting the finishing touches to a move from Feyenoord costing an initial £1million after the two clubs agreed a fee and he is due for a medical in his native Holland.

A Leeds source has told Football Insider that the club are hopeful of also finalising the pursuit of Croatia Under-21 international Gvardiol from Dinamo Zagreb.

The versatile left-footed defender has accepted United’s long-term contract offer.

But Leeds’ latest bid for Gvardiol of £18.2m has yet to be accepted by Dinamo as they hold out for their £20m valuation.

Despite the wait for a breakthrough, the Premier League new boys believe they will get the deal over the finish line.

Marcelo Bielsa has earmarked Gvardiol to provide cover and competition at centre-back as well as an option to fill in at left-back.

The pursuit is symptomatic of a window in which Leeds have targeted either proven stars for big money – Rodrigo Moreno and Robin Koch – fit into this category or outstanding teenage talent destined for the very top.

Should Gvardiol and Summerville join, they would take the number of Leeds teenage signings costing above £1m to four for this summer.

They have already clinched the big-money captures of Joe Gelhardt from Wigan Athletic, and Sam Greenwood from Arsenal, while Cody Drameh also joined from Fulham for around £400,000.

That demonstrates Leeds’ commitment to the future under Marcelo Bielsa as well as the current task of the new Premier League campaign.

Gvardiol is earmarked for the first team while Gelhardt, Drameh, Greenwood and Summerville are set to be more gradually phased into the senior set-up.
