Sources: Leicester City product Panayiotou agrees to join Aldershot Town

Leicester City academy product Harrison Panayiotou has agreed to join Aldershot Town, Football Insider understands.

The Conference Premier side have swooped for the 27-year-old just days after his exit from Scottish Premiership club Livingston.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Panayiotou is putting the finishing touches to an Aldershot return after agreeing terms.

He played once for Premier League club Leicester after graduating from their academy.

Panayiotou’s former club Livingston confirmed his release on Saturday, following a mutual agreement between the two clubs.

Speaking to club media (1 January), Livi boss David Martindale said the decision was the “obvious way forward” with the striker returning to England to “secure first-team football”.

The forward did not start a single match for the Scottish Premiership side after signing a contract last August.

Panayiotou joined Livingston on a free transfer from Aldershot after netting 12 goals in 37 league appearances last season.

The 27-year-old is a full international for Saint Kitts and Nevis, scoring 10 goals in 25 games for his country.

The striker scored on his Leicester City debut against Leeds in 2012 after coming through the ranks at the Midlands side but failed to make another senior appearance at the club.

Panayiotou endured loan spells at Port Vale and Raith Rovers, before short-lived permanent moves to Barrow, Nuneaton Borough, and Aittitos Spata.

Aldershot are set to turn to the striker yet again as they bid to distance themselves with the relegation battle in the National League.

The Shots sit nine points clear of the drop zone after 22 games.
