Sources: Liverpool working on Thuram deal after talks begin

Liverpool are hoping to sign Nice star Khephren Thuram as talks continue, sources have told Football Insider.

The star wants the move and the Reds are pushing hard to secure a full agreement and sources have said Liverpool hope to complete a deal for Thuram.

That would be a big blow to Newcastle United, who have also expressed an interest in a deal.

Thuram is admired by the Magpies and the club are in the market for a box-office midfielder signing this summer.

The 22-year-old has two years remaining on his contract with the French giants after signing an extension in 2021.

Thuram made 48 appearances across all competitions for the Ligue 1 side this season and netted two goals and provided eight assists in those outings.

Liverpool have already secured the services of midfielder Alexis Mac Allister after he signed from Brighton and will officially join the Reds on 1 July.

Jurgen Klopp is keen to add more midfield recruits as part of a massive summer rebuild after a disappointing domestic and European campaign in the 2022-23 season.
