Sources: Liverpool in advanced talks to seal big-money player deal - Klopp wants it done by 31 August
Liverpool are in advanced talks to tie Jordan Henderson down to a mega-money new contract, Football Insider has learned.
Negotiations over a fresh agreement for the Anfield skipper, 31, had been progressing slowly amid fears he could quit on a free transfer next summer.
But there has been progress in discussions in recent weeks and a Liverpool source has told Football Insider that all parties now expect an agreement to be secured.
That would be a huge boost to manager Jurgen Klopp, who has been keen to avoid a repeat of the Georginio Wijnaldum situation.
The Dutch midfielder quit earlier in the summer to join PSG on a free transfer after being offered a deal by the club that did not meet his expectations.
Henderson has been offered a deal on similar terms to his current agreement, worth well in excess of £120,000-a-week.

Klopp wants Henderson to put pen to paper before the transfer window shuts on 31 August to end all speculation about his future.
The manager is in no doubt about the England international’s importance to the side both on the pitch and in galvanising teammates in the dressing room.
That has been sorely missed when Henderson has been absent from the side due to injury.
Liverpool have a better record when the midfielder is in the side compared to when he is not, and that has proved decisive in convincing club owners Fenway Sports Group to offer him a long-term deal.
It is expected that Henderson will extend his contract until at least the summer of 2024.
He has assumed club legend status since skippering Liverpool to Premier League and Champions League triumphs in consecutive years and has now made 392 appearances for the club.
