Liverpool are in pole position to sign Mason Mount this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

Although Chelsea are still keen to keep hold of the midfielder he is still a prime target for the Reds and they are in a good position to get a deal done at the end of the season.

The Blues are looking for £80million to let the 24-year-old leave Stamford Bridge in the upcoming window but a deal could be done at £70m.

The England international is entering the final year of his contract at the London club and is is demanding parity with top-earning Chelsea stars like Raheem Sterling and Reece James in order to sign a new contract at Stamford Bridge.

Incoming boss Mauricio Pochettino is set to sit down with Mount in an attempt to persuade him to extend his stay at Chelsea but will have no influence on the financial package that the club will offer.

Jurgen Klopp is in the hunt for a new midfielder as the club prepare for a massive overhaul this summer.
