Liverpool are preparing to make Mohamed Salah their top earner with a huge £82million offer to end his contract stalemate, Football Insider understands.

American owners FSG are coming round to the realisation that their Egyptian forward is a special case and deserves a new deal reflecting that.

A Liverpool source has told Football Insider that club chiefs want to end the impasse over Salah's future with a contract agreement reached before the January window opens.

They are preparing a package worth £350,000-a-week including bonuses.

That would be worth £82m over the entirety of the contract and make the prolific forward comfortably the top earner at the club.

Salah wants a deal that runs until the summer of 2026, three years past his current agreement expiring in 2023.

He would have just turned 34 by that point, but is confident he will be just as effective in his early 30s as he has been during the last four years at Liverpool.

FSG will need to hand Salah a deal beyond that of the recent big-money contracts agreed with Alisson, Virgil van Dijk, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Jordan Henderson and Andy Robertson.

The Egyptian icon wants to commit the rest of his career to the club where he has developed into one of the world's outstanding players.

Salah has begun the new season in sensational form with nine goals from nine Premier League and Champions League matches.

That included a man-of-the-match display and goal-of-the-season contender in the 2-2 thriller against Man City just before the international break.
