Sources: Luton Town and Peterborough race to sign Edun after bids tabled

Luton Town and Peterborough United are chasing Lincoln City defender Tayo Edun after making bids for his signature, Football Insider understands.

The Championship pair are among a number of clubs interested in signing the former Fulham man.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Luton and Peterborough have both registered their interest in Edun by tabling offers for him.

Versatile performer Edun can play at left-back, defensive midfield or on the left-side of midfield.

The 23-year-old impressed for Lincoln last season as he helped them reach the League One play-off final only to lose to Blackpool.

Edun made 53 appearances in all competitions for the Imps last term, chipping in with two goals and seven assists.

His superb performances have brought him to the attention of a number of clubs and Luton Town and Peterborough are keen to offer him the opportunity of moving to the Championship this summer.

Lincoln, who signed Edun from Fulham in January 2020, are keen to keep hold of the former England Under-20 international as he has established himself as a key member of Michael Appleton’s side.

Edun is in the final year of contract at Sincil Bank and Lincoln are bracing themselves for more offers for the versatile performer before the transfer window closes at the end of August.

Edun has figured for England all the way up from Under-17s to Under-20s and he was a member of the England Under-19s that won the U19 European Championships in 2017 and was subsequently named in the team of the tournament.
