Sources: Luton Town in advanced talks to sign Aribim Pepple after hijack
Luton Town have hijacked Forest Green Rovers’ move to sign Canadian hot-shot Aribim Pepple from Cavalry FC, Football Insider understands.
The striker, 19, has emerged on the radar of a number of clubs in Europe after catching the eye with six goals in seven games in the Canadian Premier League already this season.
A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Forest Green agreed a deal option with Pepple prior to his move to Cavalry FC in April and are keen to push through a deal for the player.
However, Luton have moved to hijack their proposed move for the teenager and are in advanced talks to complete a deal.
Pepple re-signed for Cavalry earlier this year after a spell in the youth team of Spanish outfit Getafe.
After not scoring in his first 14 appearances for the club prior to his stint in Spain, he returned in red-hot form.
The English-born ace moved to Canada at the age of five and was previously called up for the Under-17 national team.
His current contract with Cavalry expires at the end of November, a month after the end of the Canadian Premier League season.
Luton Town have already bolstered their attacking ranks this summer ahead of the 2022-23 campaign with the signing of Cauley Woodrow from Barnsley.
The Hatters finished in the Championship play-off positions in 2021-22 before being defeated by Huddersfield Town in the semi-finals.
