Arsenal are very confident of completing the signing of Ben White from Brighton after the Euros finish, Football Insider understands.

Everton have made a late hijack for the England defender that has led to fears the Gunners could be blown out of the water by Farhad Moshiri's riches.

But an Arsenal source has told Football Insider that the club expect to wrap up a deal for White, 23, following extensive talks in recent weeks.

The structure of a deal is close to being agreed worth up to £50million including performance-related add-ons.

Personal terms are not expected to be an issue for the versatile centre-back and the expectation from those involved is the deal will be done soon after England's involvement in the European Championships is over.

White has let it be known to friends, including those England squad, that he is likely to end up at Arsenal before the summer window shuts.

He has already begun house hunting in the capital in the expectation that the move will go through.

Everton's wealth and ambition has led to nervousness in some quarters that Arsenal's deal could be trumped.

White only has a season of Premier League football under his belt but has made huge strides since a 2019-20 loan at Leeds United.

The versatile defender, who can play at centre-back, right-back as well as in central midfield, subsequently signed a new four-year Brighton contract running until 2024.
