Sources: Major development in Liverpool and Man City race to sign Aurelien Tchouameni
Liverpool and Man City have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Aurelien Tchouameni with Monaco signalling their plans to replace him are underway, Football Insider understands.
The Premier League elite are chasing Tchouameni’s signature this summer and his French employers are resigned to losing him.
A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Monaco are putting together a list of targets to replace the France international, 22, as they prepare to cash in on their prize asset.
Liverpool, Man City and Chelsea are among the clubs who have registered their interest in signing a player regarded as one of the best talents in his age group in the world.
They are all in the market for an A-list central midfielder this summer and Tchouameni has excited their talent spotters.
He is under contract at Monaco until 2024 but the French club are preparing to sell him even though it will take a fee of around £50million to seal a deal.
This site revealed last month (14 April) that City are pushing hard for the midfielder, although they are also considering other targets.
Jurgen Klopp is also a huge admirer of Declan Rice but West Ham’s £100m-plus price tag is out of Liverpool’s range.
Despite his age, Tchouameni has plenty of elite experience, with 131 appearances for Bordeaux and Monaco as well as eight matches for the France national team.
Liverpool are seeking a long-term replacement for the likes of James Milner, 36, who is out of contract at the end of this season, and Jordan Henderson, who turns 32 next month.
City want a midfielder to replace exit-bound Fernandinho and Chelsea are expecting to sell Jorginho.
